An 18th century Swiss villa near Lake Geneva will be the first meeting between US president Joe Biden and Russian president Vladimir Putin.
The presidents will speak about many topics. The Swiss police and army closed two parks which are near the place of the meeting.
Neutral Switzerland did not join western punishment against Russia after Moscow took control of Ukraine’s Crimea region in 2014.
Biden is on his first trip abroad since becoming the US president. First, he will go to a G7 meeting in the UK. Then he is going to his meeting with Putin in Geneva.
During his eight-day mission in Europe, Biden wants to rebuild the relationships between the US and Europe which weren’t optimal when Trump was president.
